About The Artist
My studio present studio work has two intertwined threads: landscape and the human figure.
The coil-built figures large and small scale - are a response to the spatial relationships between people in contemporary dance, music and even social gatherings.
The paper-clay sculptures are inspired by lansscape. Personal responses to place confirm our humanity and our individuality. Much of my past studio work has been exploring the processes of erosion and renewal that shape landscapes.

As well as my studio work I also I enjoy site-specific projects. This gives me the chance to combine ceramic materials (for their permanence, surface qualities, and malleability) with other materials.
I am attracted to Raku and wood firing because they are not totally predictable and invite intuitive responses to chance.
